How can I find which programmes are offered at an educational institution?
The educational institutions are included in the table instellingen. Each educational institution is linked to an instellingSkdb. First search for the desired educational institution and note the corresponding instellingSkdb. In the table opleidingen you will find all programmes. This table also includes the field instellingSkdb, which you can use to select the programmes that belong to a specific educational institution.
How do I know what a particular field means?
The meaning of each field and the data source it comes from can be found in the tab Velden in the field documentation on this page.
Where can I find the unique key for a table?
The unique key for a table can be found in the tab Tabellen in the field documentation on this page.
The information I need is in different tables. How do I link them together?
Each table has one or more unique keys. These also appear in other tables. Based on these keys you can link data from different tables together.
At what level is the programme information in the Studiekeuzedatabase calculated?
The programme information in the Studiekeuzedatabase is calculated at different levels: Standaardonderwijsindeling (SOI), studie, opleiding, programma or track. Which level applies differs per field. The level is clearly indicated, by the table name, in the tab Velden in the field documentation on this page.
What is the difference between: opleiding, programma, track, studie and SOI-rubriek?
An opleiding is an NVAO-accredited programme in higher education, offered by a specific educational institution at a specific location (for example: the bachelor Accountancy at Fontys in Tilburg). A lot of detailed information is available about opleidingen, such as student numbers and results from the National Student Survey.
A programma is an NVAO-accredited degree programme or a substantive variant of it. It is a complete track that is followed from the start and that, upon successful completion, leads to a diploma. This can be the programme itself, a variant of it, or a programme intended for transition or alignment, such as a premaster.
A track is not an independent programme, but a component of an opleiding or programma, such as a specialization or honours track. A track can only be followed within an opleiding or programma and does not lead to a separate diploma.
A studie is a national grouping of closely related opleidingen. This does not distinguish specific educational institutions or locations; it concerns aggregated figures and information at the national level.
An SOI-rubriek is a classification developed by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and is based on the international ISCED-F-2013 classification. An SOI-rubriek consists of a group of related studies.
Where can I go for help with using the Studiekeuzedatabase?
On the Studiekeuzedatabase Portal you will find extensive information about accessing the Studiekeuzedatabase, including technical documentation, field documentation and explanations about the data sources used. For questions about accessing the data, the meaning of fields or the sources used you can contact info@lcsk.nl. Landelijk Centrum Studiekeuze does not provide support for developing products or performing analyses based on the data.
When are the data in the Studiekeuzedatabase updated?
The Studiekeuzedatabase is updated several times a year. There are seven releases each year in which current data from various sources are updated. In each release the enrolable programmes are updated based on RIO (Registratie Instellingen en Opleidingen).
Most other sources, such as the satisfaction ratings from the National Student Survey (NSE), are updated annually. In addition, educational institutions themselves provide information via HOVI, for example about open days and the description of a programme. This information is refreshed daily.
